Seen Seldomly nowadays
Took a stroll thro' Splantzia, the Eastern old quarter of Chania town, in the late afternoon with the sun lowering down with a grand glow.
Wandering late, the light in the alleys quickly darkened from the shadows but I got this one of a house flooding in the golden light and three kiddoes playing on the doorsteps of their home.
It's struck me many times while here, that I hardly see kiddoes outdoors playing on the streets or in the neighbourhood. On the one hand, the weather isn't always nice for playing outdoors, but than they just don't fill the neighbourhoods, streets, playgrounds (except for the Weekends with parents around)... I think little children have become a very very precious asset in their families lives and they aren't allowed to wander around alone and play outdoors till they're big teenagers and demand their freedom ~ the population in Greece is out of balance; the aged grow in numbers quickly and they young lessen and lessen in their numbers, hence the extra protection of the young ones?!
in the extra one of Chania's Minarets... remains from the Turkish occupation here of several centuries
