Nuthatch (aka Zorro)

I didn't realise they were so pretty underneath! Think it is a male because the female has "distinctly paler flanks and vent than male" (BirdGuides app). Love the mask - looks as though he is going to rob someone!
Pootling day today - wrote 2 reports for work and then went into the garden to try to catch the damned sparrowhawk in flight. He turned up about 12 on a very fast fly past from left to right along the hawthorn hedge. Didn't stop; didn't catch anything. 3 hours later she shot through on the same path.

Well, I know where to watch next time!! Result - one very cold me with more shots of long-tailed tits and nuthatch but no sparrowhawk. Next time!
