Wintery Sky

The jaded light of the sun, far off and obscured by clouds, yet all the more beautiful for its haziness.  That light in the sky, somehow spells hope of warmer and brighter days to come.  The naked trees, their dark skeletons, revealed against the whiteness.  In the grasses, flocks of goldfinches and skylarks seek warmth and sustenance, until Merlin, ears flapping, tail uplifted, bounds through.
