Boats and Bums

A crisp and clear morning at the Dockyard. The boats looked inviting on the river reflecting in the water like a mirror. Nice to see the sunshine although it didn’t last for long.

Chatted to the stunt coordinator this evening and it turns out he was ‘Henry VIII’s bum’ at Leeds Castle in 2001 standing in as stunt double for Ray Winstone for a TV series on the famous medieval king. The stunt man has a tattoo (on his derrière) which wasn’t ‘period-correct’ so it had to be covered with waterproof make up. How funny!

In another castle-related link the director of this production was B-Camera for The Darkest Hour which filmed one scene at Leeds Castle in November 2016. The scene was cut from the final edit and he explained the creative reasoning behind it. He also added how much he loved the location. Just as he loves the Dockyard... of course! He was also B-Camera director for Mary Poppins Returns so we mostly chatted about that on the recces!

Reports of snow falling heavily in the area made for a swift departure this evening, but not even a snowflake was spotted on my journey home.

Fell asleep sat up in bed then woke up suddenly wondering what day it was! This is Day 11 of 16 so you’ll forgive me backblipping this post a day later.
