Day #12 Dunedin
We had been looking forward to Dunedin all cruise as this is where my brother and his family were going to meet us. He has been in NZ for nearly 30 years and we don't get to see them so often although he and Laura were over in the UK last year.
It was the ONLY day we had rain and lots of it, first thing in the morning. Luckily we had arranged for them to come on board the ship for a look around. My brother and his youngest daughter, Emma, arrived first as they had travelled up from Invercargill the night before to drop some furniture at the student flats where both the girls are at university. We had a lovely chat (or rather we listened, as my brother can talk for England!)and then Laura and Vicki, his wife arrived in time for lunch. Laura has just had three wisdom teeth out so we were not sure if they would make it.
We had a fabulous lunch and I think they were suitably impressed and then a look around the ship.
After lunch we went for a quick drive around Dunedin, a visit to see the girls' accommodation (far better than most student digs) and then back to the ship.
It was a fabulous day and the weather really brightened up after lunch as well, so that was nice. It was so sad to say goodbye as it always is, but we are already looking forward to the next time we can visit down under.
And to cap off the day nicely, it was hubby's birthday, so we came back to a decorated cabin and a birthday cake at dinner, with half the staff wishing him happy birthday :)
