On Frozen Pond

Two Moorhens walking on the frozen surface of the Figgate Pond. Met fellow blipper Anth on the boardwalk. He was waiting with his 500mm lens to see the Water Rail that has taken up residence and sure enough it appeared again after a few minutes. A bit far away for me to get a decent shot myself but I did watch it for a bit through my binoculars. A great little bird - a smaller cousin of the moorhen - that is notoriously elusive and hard to see. This one forage around on the edge of the pond and then headed up the bank and across the footpath to the Figgate Burn. We speculated whether that was it heading for a favourite roosting spot.
