Locked in Love

While cities all over the world were trying to stop people weighing down bridges with declarations of undying love, Manchester tried to work out how to monetize the phenomenon. One idea was to restrict additions to "high quality" or "artistic" padlocks (easily available from the local tourist office.) I'm not sure that idea ever got off the ground, but it still makes a colourful addition to the view over the canal. Another walking tour today, this time with a Smiths theme. Today's extras include a memorial to the Hacienda (now apartments) a rather palatial duck House and sculptures from a new exhibition at Manchester art gallery. The walk took me off my normal stamping ground ground which was a nice little reminder that you need to beyond your new comfort zone as well as your old.
