Pompidou Headbutt
A day for walking the streets - dry and cold, slightly overcast.
Through the Palais Royal, past the Louvre and across the Seine to the Rive Gauche. From under the Pont Des Arts, watched wetsuit clad Pompieres jumping off the bridge into the river as some sort of extreme rescue exercise. They looked frozen but knew they were entertaining the crowds and played up.
Onwards onto the Ile de la Cite and past Notre Dame and onto Ile de St Louis where some shops were perused. And then back onto the north side of the river into the Marais district. We passed through the beautiful Place des Vosges and then Jewish Quarter (falafel everywhere) before arriving at the Pompidou Centre. Outside is this 5m high bronze sculpture 'celebrating' some football violence that took place in the 2006 World Cup. It was attracting a lot of attention.
