Met up with Jeff and Alison in Winchester. Its Jeff's birthday tomorrow and Alison had brought him to Winchester as a surprise few days away.

I used to work with Jeff and it was a pleasure to be able to give them a guided tour of the city.

There was a stall selling ratcheted secateurs and loppers. We have a large garden with lots of bushes. If the stems are too thick I have to ask Mr F to cut them for me. I'm never patient and hate waiting for him. As I'd shown an interest, I was the one in for the hard sale which meant that I had to demonstrate how easy it was to cut through the thick stems. I was given the cleanly cut piece of wood as a memento. And yes I was a sucker and bought them
