Ronda
After a morning in Granada, including a visit to the 11th century Arab baths which are an excellent example of ancient Moorish architecture, we headed off to Ronda on a train journey that is one of the most spectacular in Spain. I was so exhausted that I slept through most of the journey so I'm adding the repeat journey to my long list of reasons to visit Andalucia again.
It was bitterly cold up in the mountains but that didn't stop us from depositing our bags at the hotel and heading straight out to explore. This blip shows our first sight of the gorge in the evening light, then, as the sun was setting we explored the Arab quarter and later ate at the Bodega del Socorro. Great atmosphere at this little bodega and I particularly remember the fine local red wine, the bruschetta with 'pistacho cream' and smoked salmon, and the succulent baby broad beans cooked with serrano ham, delicious...
