Hippenscombe Bottom

The great Hampshire(*) place names continue. The walk today took in Grim's Ditch, Hippenscombe Bottom and a view across the fields to Mafeking Clump.

Earlier in the week I was recommended to make a trip out to the Chute Causeway. It's an old Roman road which is a detour from the straight line between Winchester and Marlbough, as it detours around the dry valley of Hippenscombe. The views from the top looking south are stunning and well worth a visit.
