Ice Station Zebra

I headed over to Gladhouse Reservoir at lunch time as I had heard there was some icy times.... I think it was suggested that the whole reservoir had been iced over but when the wind came the ice broke up and is pushing the ice to one end.

There must have been millions of slabs of ice broken up that were all overlapping with each other half in, half out of the water, all clinking away. It was quite amazing to see... and I took loads of closeup photos, but I didn't find out until home that all the sparkling of the ice makes the photo very noisy, like it is unfocused, and it hurts my head :-) I've added an extra as an example... a bit disappointing.. I wonder what I could have done.
