Clyde

Frida and I had a great walk along the Millennium Track this morning. We got some nice shots of the lake but decided to blip 3 photos from our time in Clyde today. Clyde is a lovely wee Central Otago Town one hour from Wanaka, and has a permanent population of about 1000, but like Wanaka it is a popular holiday destination. It has Dunstan Hospital which supports people from Alexandra, Wanaka, Cromwell and Clyde.
It was a gold town in the 1860s, and early Maori used to camp here . It became known for its stone fruit, but the gorge was flooded when the controversial Clyde Dam was built.

We had lunch under the bridge by the Clutha River and then we walked along the track a few kilometres and saw some Rowan trees (2nd extra). It was great buying stone fruit in Cromwell on the way home.
