Keep An Eye On Your 'Smalls' *
I saw a red kite swooping over the farmyard next door while I was having my lunch and managed to grab the camera and snatch a few shots. It has been another dull and dismal day and the light was poor. My kite images had very little rufous about them so I've decided to convert to mono. Maybe this one is a juvenile as they are much less red than the adults?
It was lovely to see yellowhammers on a bush in Parndon water meadows this afternoon. They used to be quite common when I was a child but are now on the RSPB Red List.
* In A Winter's Tale Shakespeare says, "When the kite builds, look to your lesser linen," referring to the kite's habit of snatching clothes from washing lines for nesting material. :)
