Costa comes to Bridge of Allan

Depending on your point of view you will either welcome the new Costa coffee shop, which opens tomorrow, or regard it as another “nail in the coffin” of our traditional High St as it struggles to re-invent itself and find a new role in the 21st century.
 
We are already well supplied with niche family run restaurants and coffee shops and the arrival of a British multinational coffeehouse in this small Victorian spa town sits uneasily amongst the upmarket eateries we already have.
 
This will be the twelfth establishment offering food in a town of less than 7,000.
 
We are curious to see how it will fare.
