Pointing to the sky

This is the old chimney from The Belle Vue Mills in Skipton which were built in 1828 by John Dewhurst and opened as a spinning and weaving mill. 2 years later it burned down but was rebuilt immediately and reopened as a cotton mill. Over the years the mill had extensions added on and in 1886 electric lighting was installed. As well as spinning, weaving and dyeing The Belle Vue Mills were famous for their Dewhurst/Sylko sewing cotton.
These tall mill chimneys are dotted all over Yorkshire and Lancashire and as most are listed buildings they are well maintained.
The men in the photo are pointing the brickwork. They gave me a wave when I'd taken it.
