Oak

Gnarled hedgerow oaks are a feature of the clay plateau west of Peterborough, though sadly their numbers are gradually dwindling and there are few younger trees to replace them. As I stood and watched the changing colours of the evening sky, a solitary hare moved swiftly across the track, a scarcely glimpsed silent shadow.
