I spent much of this morning on the phone, most of it in joyous conversation with my old tutor Michael G, the celebrated Liverpudlian Surrealist and Draughtsman to the Angels.

He was planning a strange still-life and wanted to borrow my Octopus, the one I once wore on my head like a beret.
He thought it was a plastic model, but in fact it was real and long gone, barbecued.

Keen not to disappoint, I took this selfie of my much-loved banana, offering it in place of the octopus ...he jumped at the chance

Late in the day, I discovered a really awful children's ditty from the 1990's called 'Bananaphone' by Raffi...
