Jaisalmer inspiration

In 1999 we visited India for the first time, and made our way out to the golden fort of Jaisalmer on the edge of the Thar desert in the far west of Rajasthan. I loved the intricate details of the carvings on all the buildings in the fort. There was a doorway with elephants ranged on either side, and this sculpture was inspired by those, about 4 or 5 years later.

It forms a lamp base that has been sitting on our piano for a long time now.
