Operation Twinkle
Today was spent decorating our boardroom for our client Christmas party which takes place tomorrow evening. Last year, I spent a small fortune on decorations which included beautiful shiny baubles for the tree (one of which is pictured here), some pink fibre optic cherry blossom trees and two lifelike white fawns. I appreciate it all sounds incredibly tacky but, somehow, it works and everyone goes into raptures when they walk into the room.
Anyway, as our boardroom has windows on three sides and overlooks Edinburgh Castle, I decided we needed some twinkly trimmings for them. So, off I headed mid morning on mission "Operation Twinkle" and the first shop I visited was Jenners but I left very disappointed at the poor choice on offer. Undaunted, I decided John Lewis would come up with the goods so that was next on my list. However, whilst in St James Centre, I decided to pop into Poundland and what a revelation that was! How bloody brilliant is that shop! I left with a bag stuffed full of sliver snowflake garlands and beads and I was in my element when I discovered yet another shop called the Gift Shop where, again, everything was selling for a pound. I couldn't actually believe that the lovely little silver Christmas trees were only a pound so I actually had to ask the price! I bought about ten of the lovely little trees, some luxurious tinsel and some large silver and gold snowflakes for the windows. In total, I spent £51. This may sound a lot but if you could see the size of our boardroom and how much goodies I bought, you'd be amazed.
I'm now a big fan of pound shops and, whilst I may not shop there every week, I'll certainly be going back for a proper look around very soon.
I hope your Monday was filled with sparkles and twinkles just like mine!
