Very High Tide

(... or Spot the Quay! Look for the gangway on the red boat on the right.)

9.2C dull and grey. Surprisingly dry in the morning, then a few showers in the afternoon. SSE/S/SSW wind to 40 mph with gusts to 57 mph. Storm Erik.

Fergus and I went for our walk after lunch. We went round to the harbour and had a wander round the old quay. Nordic Erika looks ready to leave harbour but is probably stormbound. Ayress was at the other side of the new quay taking on wood. The tide was very high. The sea was right up under the pier. Almost felt like walking on water. Beinn Ghuilean and the town were sheltering the loch from most of the wind so the loch was looking calm other than at the Low Askomill side where small waves were breaking onto the road.

Then we carried on along Hall Street and the shore side of the park and Kilkerran road to Glenramskill House. We turned there and came back the same way then along the street side of the park and came home through town passing the town hall and the bookshop (open).
