Nothing happens here...

What's on the computer today...

It's taken a while to unscramble this bit of Argyll history but as it nears completion it's a great feeling (for me at any rate) to understand how the stagecoaches and steamers were the catalyst to the development of road transport in and beyond Kintyre. In the late 1700's one stagecoach used 8 horses and about 8 hours to get from Campbeltown to Tarbert.  It took the sailing ships a week to get from Campbeltown to Glasgow, in 1940 a steamer took 14 hours and today a West Coast Motors 59 seater coach takes just over 4 hours.
