Waterspouts on Crummock water

Day 5 LPH
Today started very wet and windy so we started with indoor creative photography. Then at about 11.15 am the weather dried up but was still very windy with gusts of 50 mph.
We decided to see whether there were any water spouts on Crummock water. There were so many and with each very last gust of wind there were water spouts right across the lake coming straight at us. We spent an hour photographing them beside the lake and we all nearly got blown away. I actually leant in a hollow against a large tree and still got blown away!! There was no way my lightweight tripod would stay on the ground so I took all the shots hand held and being blown away as the spouts blew into shore. After a standing up picnic lunch in the shelter of the woods we walked around the other side getting soaked by enormous puddles as we went. The blip was taken as I was turning round with no time to properly frame the tree but it shows the force of the water spouts across the whole lake coming at us. The extra is a zoomed shot just before the lens got covered in water. All in all an absolutely great and memorable day!
