'Pride Cometh Before...'

So much praise from yesterday's blip for the very tall blooming amaryllis. Thank you very much. I think it all went right to her head.
My surprise came this morning when I got up and went to the loo only to find she had taken a header off the back of the toilet. The pot, with some soil spilled around, sat in the water with the 3-foot hollow green stem sticking straight up. The magnificent flower and its four or five closed buds had snapped off and were on the floor.
She had her moment of pride out there on the Internet. Now she sits in a small vase of water on a shelf. The buds are in a taller vase and may still give much pleasure as the season goes ahead.
The bulb will live to create another set of blooms a year from now.  How quickly living things can change.
