Stage 1

The first step in making a felt hat is to stiffen the felt. I got a ‘hostess trolley’ recently on eBay, to use as a drying cupboard.. Earlier in the week I tested it with stiffened silk which I used in the flower making.Today was the first time I have tried it with felt.
I’ve found I have to leave the door ajar, to allow the moisture to escape, and the felt took much longer than the silk! It’s proving incredibly useful, saving a considerable amount of time, and letting me do things in bulk.
