The Pursuit of ....

Well, I am back home after a lovely two week holiday in the Sandpit. I saw a beautiful sunrise from Dublin airport, unfortunately I was not close enough to the window to get a picture and by the time I got there the sun was up. This photo was taken flying over the Thames on the approach into Heathrow. The window was dirty, and I was trying to get something recognisable between dodging the guy in the window seat. Was pleasantly surprised to find this shot of the Millennium bridge with most of St Paul's Cathedral in the background amongst the photos I managed to get. This section of the Thames and the Southbank is one of my favourite places in London.

The Dublin transfer was interesting - first a cat or dog ran in front of the plane as we were taxiing around in search of an open parking; then I saw someone taking his large dog with to one of the boarding gates (and it did not appear to be a seeing eye dog, although was about the size of one). The transfer desk was not open, so a group of us were escorted out of the main customs check points and out and back in again. The lady escorting us welcomed us onto Dublin soil, and then ushered us back through to where we should have been. It was kind of cool having that personal escort - although the lady at passport control seemed confused by my visa, so was quite relieved when she finally pulled out her rubber stamp and sent me on my merry way!
