Frosty Kisses
Frost kisses Autumn leaves
Browned grass in mis-shapened style
Where spider, its web it weaves
And ice crystals upon each other pile
The year heads towards its end
Shortening days to favour sleep
Winter closes, its grip to extend
Time now for fireside vigil to keep
The season of goodwill is nigh
And shoppers the streets they fill
Frost-laden wind passes with sigh
The promise of snow yet to fulfil
Shelves laden wth protential gift
Groan with sale's expectation
Canny shoppers through bargains sift
While 'keepers watch with trpedation
Wondering if they'll be there next year
They cut a penny off a price or two
A desperate attempt to calm their fear
Hoping a buying frenzy will ensue
End of day brings mixed emotion
One 'keeper is in depair
Savings dwindled via pecunary erosion
For their end they must prepare
While yet another counts their takings
Coin, notes and credit card slips
Of improvement there is the makings
Bad days now seen as passing blips
