overwintering

Jess and I enjoyed a long walk up through the forest this afternoon. The air felt a wee bit milder and more birds were singing. An open part of the path is fringed with broom and I was amazed to see a good number of ladybirds. Some, like these, were using the seed pods as shelter.  All were 7 spot ladybirds, Coccinella Septumpunctata.
