Simpler Times

I read today that John Haynes had died. ( read the link, interesting bloke ).

As I was always skint I had to do my own car repairs ( following my dads example ) and so a Haynes manual was always an essential purchase. Every one I owned ended up battered, scribbled on, oil stained, but they were brilliant.

Alf spotted this one in a second hand book shop and got H to buy it for me. My original Spitfire copy got lost after I had a quite hideous accident in it ( the car not the book ), I nearly had to buy the ‘Haynes Book if You’ve Just Had Your Leg Chopped Off’ luckily they got me out intact!
