Mountain Hare
Lovely weather today encouraged us to go out up into the High Peak. Onto Bleaklow Moor, from Snake Pass. The aim was to look for mountain hares. They are hard to find as they hunker down in the groughs crossing the thick layer of peat that covers the landscape. We did however spot 6 and managed to creep close enough to get photos.
We were walking for nearly 4 hours discovering other interesting sights (in extras) including grouse, the remains of a plane from a USAF base that crashed in low cloud on 3 November 1948, and some interesting old graffiti in the rocks on the summit (they had neater handwriting back then)
In all a fabulous day.
