First Cruise Ship 2019

It's been a fine day, some sunny spells, light breeze, a flurry of snow, but now showers this evening.  Brrr, it's cold!

I've been working in the museum office all day, and scanning through wedding photos from the late 1950s, and also some Up Helly Aa photos from the same era.  I managed to gathered two bags of rubbish at lunchtime, bringing me up to bag four this year so far.  I also found loads of mermaid purses, probably skate eggs.  Rushed to work in the pub after tea, and been a quiet shift.  Walkies with Sammy, and now my feet are up for the night.

The first cruise ship of the year arrived to Shetland at lunchtime, the Gann from Norway.  I think this has to be the earliest I've ever seen one, and they got off lucky with the weather.  A North Sea cruise at this time of year sounds crazy to me!  Shame the museum isn't open on Mondays, but I'm sure they found plenty to do.  Taken from south Gulberwick, with the Ness of Tresbister in foreground and Bressay behind.
