I introduced 'The Favourite' and facilitated the discussion afterwards at Film Club last night. I enjoyed it though thought it a much lesser film than his previous two 'Killing of a sacred deer' and 'The Lobster' Predictably it was a sell out which shows the power of awards and critics. No mind he is an interesting filmmaker that deserves recognition but it confirms my general view that you should try and ignore critics, reviews and competitions and just make your own mind up. In our current season I would recommend The Guilty and Shoplifters as well worth a view but I would also ignore my opinion as well!
