After pulling, more or less, an all-nighter getting an essay finished, my sleep schedule today has been sporadic, at best.
To bed at noon, woke up at 2:30PM, ran some errands, hung out, drank a beer, back to bed around 6PM, woke up around 8PM, took a bath, read some fiction. It's now 11PM and I will probably be getting back to it soon, bed that is. Sleep.
Leah had another Christmas party with some school friends. After waking up at 8, I went on a walk. So dark, so quiet, so cold. Our sofuckingwelcomed cold front finally came in, and it came in on the perfect night: on Mondays, almost all of the bars and restaurants downstairs are closed. Monday is always shittymusic free, and even if it wasn't, I'm sure the 33 degrees would have kept many Texans indoors this evening. I had the cold, dark, silent streets to myself. Wool coat, wool mittens, wool hat. Camera bag and a tripod. Again, so perfect. Leah is now home, wrapping herself in a (wool) blanket as I type here with the giant sliding window open, taking in a final swig of this frigid black night.
I still have loads of grading to do, but that always goes faster than writing my own papers. The end is most certainly now in sight.
