Clevedon Pier
Clevedon Pier is 1,024 feet long, stretching out into the Severn Estuary. It was built in 1869 to allow paddle steamer passengers alight on this part of the North Somerset coast from Devon and South Wales. In the distance is the Welsh coast around Newport. The Severn Estuary tidal range is 48 feet, one of the highest in the world and the water is a murky muddy brown.
