Wanderings & Witterings

Chatelherault Country Park was the start and end-point for our Ramblers walk today. In fact, our walk started with us leaving the Park and taking a bus down to Larkhall, from where we followed the River Avon footpath (and many steps up and down!) back up to Chatelherault. Our route continued northwards a little longer to allow us to visit the Duke's Monument before our post-Ramble coffee stop at the park's Visitor Centre.

An early feature of our walk was passing under the B-Listed Larkhall Viaduct (also known as the Millheugh Viaduct and pictured above), built as a railway bridge in 1899, though now disused. It is said to be the highest overland bridge in Scotland, with its central span standing at 175 tall, and 170 above the River Avon.
