Succession Training

As with all volunteers, it's important to try and keep the younger ones coming into the group.  Our local Country Fire Service has a depot just across the road, and they regular have training nights.  Today was clearly youth training; and very well attended it was too.

It may not be commonly known overseas, but the vast majority of fire fighters are volunteers.  Sure we have the Metro Fire Service which is fully funded and maintained by the government, but the country fire service, and that includes us even though we are a suburb, is staffed by volunteers.  These brave people regularly put their lives on the line and keep us safe.

Even the equipment - fire trucks and the like are self-funded by donations.
