Geastrum britannicum!

Prior to this afternoon I had only ever seen one earthstar and that was the sessile or fringed earthstar - Geastrum fimbratum. So you can imagine how over excited I was this afternoon to see not one, not two but eight specimens of the very rare Geastrium britannicum earth star (identity has been verified by Kew). This incredible fungus was first discovered in 2000 at Cockley Cley in Norfolk but not identified until 2015. I'm sworn to secrecy about the location of this new group but can at least say that I'm not in Norfolk.
