Pintail Argy-Bargy

Grabbing her by the neck with a huge beak this male pintail  didn't appear to be too friendly but neither was she. It never got too nasty and they both walked/waddled away to feed elsewhere. They are my favourite ducks; the markings and feathers on the male being particularly beautiful, especially the long pointed tail feathers.

Not all the birds were loved-up on the lake this Valentine's Day, with a fair few squabbles breaking out. Male rivalry and food being the main causes of angst as far as I could gather. 

Valentine romance wasn't going well either with the flamingos this afternoon either as Freddy try as he might kept unceremoniously slipping off!
