Locked out

The Canal & River Trust have a rolling programme of replacing lock gates, which although made of high quality oak have an effective life of only 25 years. As far as I can tell it is largely funded by charitable donations, and most of the work is done by volunteers. While it can be annoying to have one's peaceful walk interrupted by cars and vans crawling along the towpath, it's OK once you realise why they're there.

This was on an absolutely glorious February afternoon on the Stratford-upon-Avon canal. Extra shows work in progress.
