We were driving alongside Chelker Reservoir on the way to Ilkley when I spotted Whooper Swans bobbing along on the wavelets. G stopped in a gateway and went back to check. He doesn’t trust me. Yes, 25 Whoopers, a lovely sight. I meanwhile got to see a Redwing by the side of the car and the sight and sound, a bit like a steam train, of the Greylags taking off.
