Diary of an Edinburgher

Trixie!

A wee bit of a lie in, then I was suddenly up and washing floors. JR is very affected by the dust, so I swept up and mopped the floors and the path while she was still in bed. I don’t want her to have to move out to a hotel, as she has been hinting...

She then went off the gym, came back and had breakfast, then went back up for a shower when it wasn’t so busy. I just had a wash.

Archie had a haircut. Yes! I've been working up to it for a long time. It took me AGES, he was so shaggy - I could have knitted a jumper from the hair that came off. Indeed, his ears are half the size they were. He wasn’t exactly delighted, but put up with it, bless him. Elizabeth came to take him out, so that took his mind off the indignity.

Then we sprung a leak! Suddenly, from under the bath, water was spraying everywhere. I turned it off at the mains, and we tried to tape it up, to no avail. We had to leave the water turned off. Mild panic set in. No showers we can cope with, but no water? No way.

I texted our builder, poor man, on his weekend, but he came round later in the afternoon and fixed it.

But the Main Event of the day was a visit to Trixie, Ann's new pup. And what a wee sweetie she is. We had to go without Archie (aka Mr Grump) because he doesn't like puppies.

Trixie is the dearest little dog. She's going to have a Very Good Life with Ann, when she didn’t have a very good start.

We were back in time for our builder to interrupt his precious weekend and fix our water supply! All good now.
