Spent a few hours in phone and computer shops today, it being Gaby's birthday tomorrow. I must say the iPad is a very lovely thing, but I prefer the concept of Android and it's more open operating architecture. There seem to be just as many apps available and many of them seem to be free!

The fascinating thing to me is the pricing structure of these things. A top end 10" tablet can be picked up for about £300-ish, the same make 7" tablet for £160, but the same make phone, with a 4" screen goes either free with a long contract or costs over £400 without!

I think we've made a decision. The 7" screen was deemed to be too small to use for any length of time, either watching, writing or typing. Just not a big enough step up from a phone screen.

So a nice Android phone should do the job, but it's not so much the phone that we're after, it's the all inclusive contract as the minutes she is on at the moment really do not cover her calls and we end up paying more than an unlimited contract would cost with a new phone. Crazy isn't it?

The problem of note-taking on a tablet will have to be addressed at another time. :)
