Steak and Ale

Cube steak and Coat in flour, fry on high heat until browned all over.
add onion, leek, garlic and carrot, fry for a bit longer. Add seasoning and herbs.
Pour in pint of dark ale. This one used Bateman's Dark Lord
Simmer with lid on for about an hour or a bit more. Remove the lid for the last 15mins or so to aid thickening.

Make some shortcrust pastry (300g plain flour, salt, 75g Stork, 75g Butter, 3 tbsp cold water).

Roll out pastry and line enamel pie tin, (smear with butter first) pour in steak & ale filling. Put in chimney and fit pastry top.

Bake in oven at 190C for 30 minutes or until the pastry is browned.
