Wild goose chase

So we had planned a moderately strenuous walk with a strategically placed pub half way around the circuit. I had carefully checked that dogs were allowed (‘on leads in bar and garden area’) so we staggered up the hill anticipating something (anything would have done, actually) nice to eat. Wrong. Sorry we are full. Full? Even the bar and the garden (both of which were semi deserted)? Ah well we have taken as many bookings as we can cope with and no one else can order anything apart from drinks. Marvellous.
I felt a little better after a polite grumble on TripAdvisor but we still had another hour to go to the nearest village. Thankfully they have slightly more adaptable hostelries and eventually we had food. Lots of it, actually. Lucky I had burned off significant calories getting there! The dogs are now unconscious and there are some sore feet. A hot shower awaits!
