Yellow Daffadowndilly
Daffadowndilly by A.A. Milne
She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
"Winter is dead."
After the blue of yesterday's skies, I thought we needed some yellow today! These two colours go so well together, wouldn't you say?
The gardens are not yet decorated with daffodils, but a little pot of spring flowers grew tiny miniature daffodils in the night! No wonder poets wrote poems about these sunny and welcome flowers.
Daffodils symbolize rebirth and new beginnings and we look forward to seeing them every spring.
The botanic name of these flowers is narcissus and they are sometimes also called 'jonquils' (which is also the name for them in French).
