Life in a Northern Town

Take me!

We went husky sledding this morning - I chose a small husky farm, which is very eco-friendly - they have no electricity and try to minimise their impact on the environment. We were the only people on the first trip, so as we arrived the forty dogs went crazy, all hoping to be picked.

We were in heaven - forty dogs, plus three tiny puppies, all vying for our attention - I could’ve brought them all home. The main Blip is one of the dogs who likes to climb - he could easily jump right out but he chooses not to. His name was Hyena. I’ve also Blipped another one of the dogs who was also keen to be chosen to pull the sled - very striking eyes.

This evening we have been for dinner at the Ice Hotel - what fun that was! We had a peep into all the rooms, bumped into someone we knew from Huddersfield, had drinks at the ice bar where you have to throw the ice shot glass against the wall, then ate delicious tomato soup, elk (salmon for Sarah) and chocolate cake served on an ice plate in the shape of a snowflake. It was an experience!

Tomorrow is our last day, Sarah and John are going snowmobiling then in the evening we have the first chance of clear sky so we are off Aurora hunting. The Lights are fickle so you never know, maybe we will be lucky. If not it doesn’t matter, we have loved our trip and wouldn’t have changed a single thing. Well maybe the airline!!!
