Tornadoes

The Tornado fighter aircraft is being retired from the RAF after 40 years service and over three days this week they are performing 'flypasts' at various places around the country for their final flights in service.  Today was the second day and they were due to pass over Cranfield Airfield so we walked up for a look.  it was all over in about 30 seconds as they flew down the runway and over our heads making an amazing noise and an impressive sight indeed.  It was a bit dark and cloudy so I was unable to pick out much detail but I quite like the way they show in silhouette against the grey sky.  Tomorrow they will be flying past a couple of bases in Scotland after which they will be taken out of service permanently.
