Winter Bus Challenge No 163!
Church of St John The Baptist, Hinton Charterhouse, Somerset
Into Bath to meet by BC friend, and to take a second bus to the village of Hinton Charterhouse, to the south of Bath. The village grew up around the Carthusian Hinton Priory, which was founded in 1232 by Ela, Countess of Salisbury, who also founded Lacock Abbey.
The Priory is now private property so no chance to take a sneaky peek, and Hinton Charterhouse is quite small, but we still found plenty to explore, including the village’s 12th century church, and the village pub where we took shelter from the chilly wind, and had a very tasty lunch!
Bus journey time = 1 hour 18 mins
Waiting between buses time = 44 mins
Total bus journey time = 2 hours 2 mins
In extras, a tree for Joe!
