Monarch Butterfly

The heat continues, felt I needed a break from the editing and went out in the garden to do some watering.
A pleasant surprise was seeing this monarch settling on the Swan plant, (hopefully laying eggs for the next generation) then buzzing off and returning after fluttering about the garden.
Later in the afternoon I took Doug out to see if it was still about.  Yes, it was but deceased on the ground.  Its what happens, they have a life of two to six weeks before dying.  Although some can winter over.  Not this one sadly.
