Lynchville
This, recently closed down restaurant might look as if it belongs to the American mid-west, but is situated in Central London. It reminds me of a scene from Twin Peaks, with it's red velvet seat coverings.
This was the Scotch Steakhouse on Shaftesbury Avenue, one of the many copycats of the Angus Steakhouse chain, which appeared in the '70's.
It's hard to imagine how rare it was to eat out back then in the North West of England. Pubs didn't serve food, home cooking had barely strayed away from hotpot and fish fingers. It was therefore seen as the height of sophistication to go out once a month (if you were lucky) to a Berni Inn, or if you were in a city Angus Steakhouse.
